Amy Winehouseâs rehab stint has apparently borne fruit as the singer peacefully complied with Grammys producersâ request to cover up a tattoo on her arm which features topless woman. The 24-year singer used her black eyeliner to draw a bikini over the offending area before she performed for the awards ceremony via satellite.
Producers of the show had shown concern over the graphic nature of the tattoo on the singerâs left arm.
A source was quoted as saying:
Amy drew a little black bikini top on the large topless female tattoo on her arm, so as not to offend any of Americaâs puritanical viewers.
Ever since the now-infamous Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl half-time show in 2004, censorship on American awards show has become more severe.
The cover-up must have also comforted Amyâs mom Janis, who has admitted she isnât a big fan of her daughterâs choice of body art, saying:
That dreadful one saying âBlakeâsâ on her breast- I hate that. It was like when Amy got her âDaddyâs Girlâ tattoo. She asked me, âDo you want me to get mummy tattooed, too?â I said, âNo, donât worry. Thatâs not my thing.â
I wonder what Amyâs âmummyâ tattoo would have looked like!
