Mandira Bedi landed in a thick controversy when she appeared on ramp with a Sikh religious symbol tattoo on her bare back on Tuesday.
The tattoo of ‘Ekom Kar’ (God is one) in Gurmukhi. These are the first words of the holy Sikh scripture – the Granth Sahib.
SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said:
This action is anti-Sikh and has hurt the sentiments of millions of Sikhs. She should tender a public apology for this.’
Mandira apologized for her tattoo saying that she wore this tattoo because she is proud to be a Sikh and was deeply sorry if she had hurt religious sentiments. Few years back model-cum-actress had generated controversy after giving her two pet dogs a Sikh name. At that time also she put a lid by saying that these dogs were her family members.
Now I am waiting when Tibetan activists will surround her in one more controversy for her religious ‘Tibetan OM’ tattoo which she wears on her tummy below her navel.
