Honoring platoon members with tattoos

iraqThe war time memories are still haunting Capt. Michael Pretus. He lost Marines under his command in the Iraq War and the painful memories are hovering over his mind. He can’t bring them back but has found a way out by honoring them in a colorful way. He has tattooed their names on his arm, a common wartime ritual.

The practice of commemorating combat experience with a tattoo is as old as war itself. But I don’t think it is intelligible to do so; rather it will add fuel to the fire by eternalizing the memories of the horrendous past.
