Cher and Her Tattoos
She got her first tattoo as mentioned above in 1973.It was a flower and butterfly and she got it on her butts. On an appearance of her on the show “The Late Night Show With David Letterman, she was asked about the number of tattoos she got on her body. She joked that she had a welcoming message of her lovers on her cheeks. She mentioned her first tattoo was on her butt and on one cheek it says ‘Hi Sailor and other say “New to town”. She probably was around 27 and she did it when she left her husband Sonny. During that time tattoos were not that popular and all good and decent girls stayed away from it. Her tattoo was butterfly amidst the flowers which shows rebellious freedom.
She got her second tattoo on her lower right arm and it was of crystals and crystal according to Cher stands for good luck charm. The next tattoo she got in 1982 which was of chrysanthemum tattoo on her ankles. She got fourth tattoo on her right upper arm of a Chinese character which means look at me. This was done in 1983. Her other tattoos includes a flowing necklace done on her left upper arm, a black orchid just above the crease of her right thigh and a chrysanthemum on her left ankle.
Cher who has just released her new album ‘Closer to the Truth’ say had many of her tattoos removed with laser treatment and she made the decision to get rid of them because they were ”old fashioned”. That is one of the main problems with permanent tattoo. The trends keep on changing but you can’t change the ink. Well you can remove it but it is extremely painful and expensive than when you get it done. So if you would like to get a tattoo, think over and get the one that you wouldn’t regret for the rest of your life.
