The tattoo copyright: Respect or controversy

old tattooI would definitely sue the person who just takes on my design without my permission. Design on which I’ve worked hard day and night practicing again and again, coloring again and again and taking pains to make it look the best.

It is cheating, copying and stabbing at one’s back, to be more precise. Tattoos are personal, they’ll decorate your body and of course soul for whole of your life. How can someone disrespect the art by decorating his body with a copied stuff? How would your feel if you see others wearing your tattoos with deep personal meanings? You can contact any damn tattoo artist and ask him to mark something similar, a cheap copy indeed, of what you have seen, but at least go and ask the artist who has put his soul to create the art or even ask the person who is wearing that exquisite piece.

Read the Marisa Kakoulas’ article to have a deep insight into the tattoo copyright controversy. I would advice all the artists to register their original works ASAP with the U.S. Copyright Office. Anyway, it is not easy to spot the person flaunting his biceps with your art.

It’s a matter of conscience. Please think before your ink!
