Oklahoma is the only city in America where tattooing is a crime. But tattoo parlors are proliferating in many corners of the city. The reason offered for the ban is ‘connection between increasing cases of hepatitis C infections and tattooing,’ which according to experts is baseless.
The truth is that few unsanitary tattoo parlors have degraded this wonderful art. The people must come forward to plead for enforcing ban on only these unlawful parlors, and also educate people on the risks of using unauthorized pigments and infected needles.
The ban should be immediately lifted and tattooing must be legalized, keeping in mind the sentiments of tattoo lovers.
