Braille Tattoo: Haptic tattoo for blind people

braille tattoo

Just came across something interesting so thought I’d share with y’all. Tattoos that decorate our skin can also be touched and read. This means that visually impaired people can also get themselves inked. Sounds really amazing!

Klara Jirkova, a student at the University of the Arts Berlin designed a tattoo that can be read via touch. Named Braille Tattoo, it’s a subdermal implant that can be used to create body art for the visually impaired people. It’s a series of implantable surgical steel, titanium or special medical plastic material that is placed under the skin.

So, blind people can also have meaningful body alterations. The implant could be placed on the hand between thumb and forefinger that could be read when shaking or holding hands.
